Description

Would you like to start new year with a delicate cake flavour that reveals Greek traditional tastes? This is the perfect recipe.

Ingredients

  • 375 gr Butter, spreadable
  • 3 cups Sugar, white
  • 1 cups Sugar, icing
  • 4.5 cups Wheat flour, white, plain
  • 6 item Eggs, chicken, white, raw, large, item
  • 6 teaspoon (tsp) Baking powder
  • 1.5 cups Whole milk, average
  • 2 tablespoon (tbsp) Vanilla, Madagascar, extract
  • 1 teaspoon (tsp) Orange, zest

Servings scaling: 16

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 200oC.

  1. In a separate mixing bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder. Leave it aside, as it is one of the last steps in the preparation.
  2. Use a stand mixer for the preparation of the mixture, it will make it easier.
  3. Add the butter to the mixer bowl and start stirring it. Stir it until it becomes a thick, soft cream.
  4. When the butter turns softer, add the granulated sugar. It is important not to add all the quantity at once. Break the egg cells and add the eggs one by one in the mixture.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and the orange zest.
  6. The last step is to add the flour to the mixture alternatively with milk.
  7. When everything is mixed, transfer the mixture to a well-buttered nonstick round flat cake tin, size 12.5 inches.
  8. Bake the mixture in the lower layer at 180C for 45min up to 1 hour.
  9. The tip for this recipe is, that as soon as you remove the cake from the oven, let it rest so that the temperature decreases slowly. Any effort to remove it sooner will make it fall apart.
  10. Use a small strainer to decorate the cake by spreading icing sugar on top of it.

Bonne Appetite!!!
